Document the every day... #01

I can't deny that I'd happily spend my days hunting for the next up and coming jewellery designer, endlessly filling up my ASOS basket or discovering new inspirational blogs.. But like many of you, there's a whole lot more to fit into 24 hours.

Rather than pretend I'm busy with something glamorous and exciting, I thought I'd start to share some of my day-to-day inspiration in which I've cleverly titled 'Document the every day..'

Hey, it doesn't hurt the old photography skills either..

So this is my current inspiration. Fresh flowers. On every flat surface in the house.

I'm a funny one when it comes to flowers.. There'll be plenty of people expecting a bouquet or two this valentines but my other half won't risk it. Why?! Probably the twenty questions that will follow..

'Flowers? For me? WHY? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!'

Unfortunately I somehow link the kind gesture of picking up a bunch of fresh flowers with feeling GUILTY, even though there is absolutely no reasoning behind it. Friends and family are fine.. But my husband, the person that knows me better than anyone else (including exactly the type of flowers I like) is not.

The husband is accused of crashing the car, frittering away all of our money and knocking down the house before he even attempts to explain the daffs he picked up were £1 in the bargain bucket at the supermarket on his way home.

For this reason my house has been flower-less for the last 5 years.

That was until I picked up these yellow roses. I love roses. I love yellow. There has been nothing that has cheered me up in the morning more than seeing what can only be described as a smile on a stalk.

So yes, I will be taking longer when I go shopping to pick up the perfect fresh flowers for the week. And yes, I have forgotten where they're all dotted about in the house.. But they've made me happier than shower gel (and I LOVE a good shower gel), what better reason is there than that?

  3. What a lovely post! I'm the opposite. I regard getting flowers as a simple yet love filled gesture. I can recall being young and my dad coming home with petrol station flowers and giving them to my mum and when I'd ask why he'd just say " To show her I love her " or " because I saw them and thought of your mother " She would always give me 1 or 2 of the flowers to put in a tiny vase so I could have some in my room and for me that was love in its purest finest form. haha Silly I know, but I hate throwing flowers away and I'll always feel really special when I get some. *shrugs* Flowers are just magical sometimes

  4. I'm exactly the same.. I don't think I've ever bought myself fresh flowers but I do love having them in the house. Maybe I'll try plants so I don't feel quite so guilty! :)

    1. Yeah, I do feel sorry for him sometimes.. He just treats me to chocolate instead. And I'm not complaining about that!
